Calisthenics & MMA Project in partnership with Burton and District Mind

For the past 12 weeks, Director Ben Lynch has been delivering Calisthenics sessions alongside Mixed Martial Arts at Immortal MMA in Tamworth.

This program has been co-ordinated by Burton and District Mind and funded by ASICS.

The sessions not only focused on exercise but the mental health benefits of movement. Featuring 1 hour of calisthenics, followed by an hour of striking and a discussion at the end.

This has been transformative and we’ve seen incredible markers of progress around socialisation, confidence, self belief, fitness, strength, co ordination, communication, resilience… and so much more.

The group has flourished together and we are grateful to have been given the opportunity to facilitate this crucial aspect of personal wellbeing.

This project has consistently seen 6/7 individuals of all different backgrounds, ages and abilities. Each with their own strengths and weaknesses, they all jumped in with 2 feet and trusted the process.

From very little knowledge of calisthenics and how to train it, to now being empowered with knowledge and leaving with resources, including:

  • The Beginners Guide to Training Calisthenics (available for download)

  • 1 Month Access to the UKCO App Membership

  • Streetworkout Plus Sweatbands

  • Gravity Fitness Skipping Rope

We at the UKCO are hopeful that this initiative can further expand our capacity to spread the love and knowledge of calisthenics as a tool for mental and physical health nationwide in 2026.

If you would like for us to work with you next year and deliver similar projects- let us know!

Thank you to All of the participants, Reiss at Immortal MMA, Emma at Burton and District Mind. ASICS for the funding!
